A Living History

The origins of Texas Hold'em Poker still remain a mystery. However, according to the state legislature of Texas, the city of Robstown is the birthplace of the official game, which dates from around the early '900. It seems that some poker players in Texas have also introduced the game in the casinos of Las Vegas around 1967.

Today, after years of steady growth, the popularity of Texas Hold'em is increasing dramatically, especially due to the great coverage provided by the Internet and television networks. Online Texas Hold'em had never before achieved the fame of which it enjoys today. And considering that online gaming is relatively in its infancy, the success of this game is so-to-say unlimited!

Beware of "trap hands" - some advice from PokerVincente.org

As in every variation of poker, Limit Hold'em has its "trap hands". A trap hand is simply a hand which looks better than it actually is. While binding with any flop, this hand is likely to find itself beaten by a slightly higher one.

Before defining a hand as "trap", you need to consider your position and what happened in the hand until then. Among the classic examples of trap hands in Limit Hold'em can be mentioned:
Aces accompanied by weak cards (for example A and 5 A 3 ) from the start. Even if an ace comes on the flop, your kicker is still low and you'll find yourself at a disadvantage.

Two cards of more than 10. Example: in your hand 10 K and decide to call from a medium position, another player raises with a pair of Jack and you decide to call.
With a flop of 05,03,10 you may believe you’ve got the best hand at the table, but it’s not at all.
